The Michael Fowler Centre is the home to the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Wellington's main stage for leading performing artists, this much-loved part of the Wellington skyline sits right at the heart of the capital city's civic and cultural precinct.

The spacious auditorium with stunning acoustics is complemented by the Renouf Foyer and Lion Harbourview Lounge. A striking three-level glass facade fronts a magnificent interior space, finished with Italian marble and native timbers. The architecture has seen the venue win numerous architecture awards.

The Michael Fowler Centre auditorium can be a venue for your conference, graduation, awards presentation or dinner, or one of the smaller spaces for presentations, cocktail functions and trade shows.

We nurture creative talent and showcase exciting new NZ performance. Our buzzing year-round programme is an alternative mash-up of theatre, dance, improv, stand-up, and experimental work. We don't create these shows ourselves; we support artists to present their work to crowds of arts lovers in one of our three professionally equipped theatres.

The earliest records show that first production was staged at the Feilding Community Centre in 1938. Theatre has been an integral part of the Feilding community ever since. This was most evident in 1950 when the existing building was condemned. The whole community was galvanised into action to save the theatre and they raised funds to almost completely replace the building. 

We are just as passionate about theatre today. The theatre has an active committee who work hard staging a variety of productions each year. Membership socials are held during the year as well hosting visiting productions from time to time.

The Opera House is an 100-year-old venue with an auditorium that boasts spectacular original features including a proscenium arch, domed ceiling and raked stage. 

The Opera House has a beautiful marble staircase descending to the stunning first floor space, with its hand-painted La Scala inspired ceilings opening to an intimate balcony overlooking Te Aro Park.
