The Auckland City Mission provides free social services to struggling Aucklanders, including:  
- Food for individuals, families and community foodbanks 
- Support for older people and the homeless 
- Drug and alcohol detoxification services 
- Healthcare 
- Advocacy 
- Food parcels and gifts at Christmas
- Annual Christmas lunch for 2000 people 

To continue providing its services, the Mission relies on donations of food & goods and the generosity of the Auckland public to support its fundraising campaigns. 

The Mission also raises funds through its New Beginnings shops in the CBD, Glen Innes, and Takapuna, where donated goods that are excess to requirements are sold.

STRIVE Training Academy provides a range of Youth & Adult training programes.

We are registered and accredited with NZQA and the trust has a 'preferred provider status' with Child, Youth & Family.

To introduce the idea that there's no free lunch, we sell $2 Lunches on site. Transport to and from homes is also available.

**Youth Training -**

- Youth Choices: This 40-week course offers National Certificates Level 1 in Work & Community Skills, as well as Educational Achievement
- Young People Owning Direction: This 40-week course offers National Certificates Level 1 & 2 in Educational Achievement

**Adult Training -**

- Learning Nest: A 48-week course that focuses on teaching the learner how to learn
- Language & Literacy Skills L1: A 48-week course that focuses on achieving a combination of ESOL & Supported Learning Level 1 unit standards towards the National Certificate in Work & Community Skills
- Language & Literacy Skills L2: A 48 week course focusing on a higher level of ESOL unit standards & achieving or completing the National Certificate in Work & Community Skills Level 1 & gaining unit standard towards the National Certificate in Employment Skills

This free service provides the guidance to get started - and get active, whether you are new or returning to physical activity.

Volunteer Porirua opened as a branch of Volunteer Wellington in the spring of 2001, sharing space with the Porirua Language Project for a year, later moving to a bigger office at Pember House, Level 3, 16 Hagley Street. The service is now an integral part of the local community with a strong team of interviewers led by branch manager Julia Donovan. Key partnerships have been formed over the years with Work and Income, Porirua HealthLinks, Whitireia Polytechnic, sporting groups, Porirua City Council Community Development and 56 community organisations.
