We nurture creative talent and showcase exciting new NZ performance. Our buzzing year-round programme is an alternative mash-up of theatre, dance, improv, stand-up, and experimental work. We don't create these shows ourselves; we support artists to present their work to crowds of arts lovers in one of our three professionally equipped theatres.

Over the years BATS has been the spark that lit the careers of many household names. Were the place to get up close to Aotearoa's next generation of performers, writers, directors, designers and event technicians.

The Opera House is an 100-year-old venue with an auditorium that boasts spectacular original features including a proscenium arch, domed ceiling and raked stage. 

The Opera House has a beautiful marble staircase descending to the stunning first floor space, with its hand-painted La Scala inspired ceilings opening to an intimate balcony overlooking Te Aro Park.

The Michael Fowler Centre is the home to the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Wellington's main stage for leading performing artists, this much-loved part of the Wellington skyline sits right at the heart of the capital city's civic and cultural precinct.

The spacious auditorium with stunning acoustics is complemented by the Renouf Foyer and Lion Harbourview Lounge.
